Results of the evaluation of ERNs were just published by the European Commission. To write this report, 24 interviews with ERN coordination teams and ePAGs advocacies, as well as audits of almost 200 HCPs were conducted by a team of 179 independant evaluators. Additional information, suggestions and comments were also collected through online questionnaires sent to all HCPs, ERNs and ePAGs.
The results are very positive: they showed a high level of commitment of ERNs to their objectives, with a significant proportion (100% of ERNs and 90% of their HCPs) achieving satisfactory results in the evaluation. Strengths were identified in the areas of Education and Training (higher score of all areas), Networks and Dissemination, Competence, Experience, and Patient-centred care, while Quality and Patient Safety, and Organization and Management are areas for improvement for both, ERNs and HCPs respectively.
